A giant in the heart of Brazil
We are one of the largest and most integrated biorefineries in the country. We operate a business model that allows the transformation of renewable raw materials and their byproducts into biofuels, clean energy, food, organic fertilizers, and ingredients for yeast. Located in Mato Grosso, our guiding principle is the maximization of sustainability and the reduction of carbon emissions through the processing of biomass.
With a team of more than 3,300 employees and significant partnerships, we are active at every stage of the production chain, from sugarcane cultivation to the marketing, logistics, and distribution of the final product. Our 43-year history spans operations across Brazil’s Central-West and Northern regions.

History

Timeline
Located in Nova Olímpia, in the interior of Mato Grosso, we were initially known as Destilarias Itamarati. To this day, the enterprise is recognized as one of the largest in Brazil’s sugar-energy sector.
The first harvest took place with the cultivation of 7,000 hectares of sugarcane, resulting in the milling of 25,000 tons and the production of 150,000 liters of ethanol. At that time, we had an active team of 300 employees.
The mechanized harvesting of sugarcane commenced.
The first expansion of our plant occurs with the installation of the sugar factory. That year, we also began producing electricity from sugarcane biomass, which made us energy self-sufficient during the harvest season. Following this period, we changed our name to Usinas Itamarati S/A.
From this year onwards, we started commercializing surplus bioenergy during the harvest, exporting 8,126.8 MWh to the state concessionaire.
We implemented mechanized planting, reaching 58% in the 2011/2012 harvest. Also in 2006, we began selling carbon credits.
We expanded our production capacity.
We achieved 100% mechanized harvesting and green cane harvesting.
We received the Recognition Seal of the National Commitment to Improve Working Conditions in Sugarcane.
We were awarded the Coca-Cola Ingredients Suppliers Quality Award.
This year marks the entry of new investors, a new chapter in our history.
We received Bonsucro Certifications: considered the main international standard for sustainable practices in the sugarcane industry.
We rebranded our company to uisa, giving new meaning to our brand and the organization. We began positioning ourselves as a player in bioenergy, bioproducts, and food, with a presence in Mato Grosso and the Northern region of the country, where we are leaders in the sugar market with the brand Açúcar Itamarati.
We began commercializing CBios (Decarbonization Credits), a new source of revenue, potentially reaching an emission of around 200 thousand CBios per crop year.
We received the I-REC certification, which verifies our renewable energy production, the Regenagri certification, which certifies our regenerative agricultural practices, and the Halal certification, which confirms that Açúcar Itamarati is produced in accordance with legal requirements and Islamic jurisprudence (Shariah) criteria.
We have achieved the GMP+FSA certification, ensuring the supply of safe products for animal nutrition. This year, we have also obtained certifications under the ISCC-EU, ISCC-CORSIA, and ISCC-CORSIA-PLUS standards, reaffirming sustainability throughout the biofuel production chain, in compliance with the SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) standard.
